What healing and coaching in nature has to offer

In our fast-moving world, many choose for online coaching because it’s efficient, flexible and accessible. Online coaching is also a method in my coachings but sometimes what we truly need is a different kind of space — one where body, mind and soul can meet in a living environment.
At the Oase van Rust, the therapy and coachingsspace of Neolabyrinthium, I guide healing walks in nature. That brings a unique quality of connection that complements, and in some ways transcends, online work.

📖 My Story from This Weekend

This past weekend I guided a client through the garden at Oase van Rust. The sky was grey and gentle rain was falling. 'Oh now it is raining? Are we using this as an excuse not give ourselves this beautifull journey? She did not.

We had a wonderfull session and integrated the elements of what nature brought us that day. We walked slowly, and the rain felt like whispers — the tears of the sky, the tears of Mother Earth — acknowledging what the human heart carries. My client shared grief, the landscape held us both. The ground underfoot was steady; the drip of water on leaves sang its song. In that moment we weren’t only walking a path: we were carrying an inner journey together, supported by earth and rain.
Later, the sun peeked through the clouds and the garden glowed anew. The client said: “I feel held.” And I believed it — because in that garden, the earth and nature’s rhythms held us. No screen, no Zoom box, no travel stress — simply presence.

🌳 What a Walking Session Adds

Now imagine a healing walk in nature, at the Oase van Rust, where the coach and participant move slowly together through the special places: the heart, the waterpit, the circle of foregiveness and the labyrinth. Surrounded by the birds, the wind in de leafs and the tears of the sky or the bright eyes of the sun.

Here’s what that brings:

Sense of the earth supporting you: During a recent walk, it rained. During another walk a birth started to sing. That kind of metaphor, that kind of felt experience, is what nature gives us. When standing at the different places you feel your feet sinking in the ground.

Embodied presence: You’re not sitting behind a screen. You’re walking, breathing, sensing. The body becomes part of the process, not just the mind. How does the body feels?

Multi-sensory connection: The sound of rain, the feel of the ground, the smell of wet earth — these open different doors in our system than words alone. Research into nature therapy (e.g., “forest bathing” or shinrin-yoku) shows measurable benefits: reduced cortisol, improved mood, restoration of cognition.

Support from the earth: When walking in the garden you literally step on the ground, are surrounded by plants, trees and natural rhythms — and you feel held.

Slowing-down rhythm: Moving slowly, outdoors, allows for reflection, for space to breathe, for insights to emerge naturally rather than being forced.

🧭 So… in need for a walk?

These walks are for you when you seek deeper connection, a shift in embodied awareness, a different quality of presence and this because you are in a period of your life where you need to take a turn. You have to say goodby to a situation, a part of you and need or want to create and embrace the new.

I work mostly with men and women over 45 who encounter turns to take in the following topics:

  • menopause
  • divorce
  • becoming a new you
